As I begin to elaborate on Dylan's story, I'd like to introduce where he is in my current OC "canon."
Dylan Discotheque is a 27-year-old transgender man. He was originally designed to be a personification of Panic! at the Disco, but later on, his "purpose" was lost, he's just a normal guy with a happy family. The closest he's been to a "personified Panic!" is if/when he's used alongside a reference to the band.
Fun Fact: Dylan's cousins were at some time related to Panic! at the Disco in some way. However, the family is no longer associated with Panic! and are just normal people doing their thing.
Dylan grew up with his Parents and Cousins, they all lived relatively close to each other so they spent a lot of time together. He grew up closer to his
cousin Jaden than
Velia, but they're still close. They grew up to be as close as siblings and they're all very supportive of each other. Jaden was Dylan's biggest support once he came out as transgender, he even went to her first. His parents, on the other hand, are right on the edge of old-fashioned and struggle to learn with the constantly-adapting future. They tried to be there for him but struggled to support him in a way that made him feel validated.
I also plan on making a timeline for
The Discotheque Family in general. I'd like to figure out how old the rest of the characters would be in their Canon, figuring out all kinds of stuff like when parents met and when kids were born and weddings happened.
Those things will be added as they're made! This journal is a Work In Progress because I'm not doing all of that tonight. It's too late for that.
I've decided that I won't go into any detail about Dylan and his transition. He is more than just "the trans character" and I don't want to make that the focus of him and his family as I develop them.
(3/7/2024) NEW LORE NEW LORE !!!!!
Elora is BACK in the picture babey. I've decided that instead of making Dylan x Elora a separate universe/timeline/whatever, I'm going to reel it back into the main timeline and connect everything again.
Dylan and Elora got married young. Their puppy love made the idea of marriage and starting a family sound so perfect, they couldn't wait any longer. They got along very well as a married couple, and after what they thought was an appropriate amount of time (
and totally not by accident) they had a child.
I had originally designed their child as
Aspen, but they were later redesigned to be
Willow (whose design has been updated since the linked drawing).
Dylan and Elora eventually realized that maybe their relationship wasn't all that they had expected it to be. They decided to get divorced. It was an amicable separation. They agreed that they enjoyed each other's company and loved each other, but not the way they used to. They separated when Willow was about 10 years old.
For Willow, this was still a difficult and confusing thing to experience even though their parents got along and tried to explain things the best they could. They never resented their parents for this, though.
Dylan and Elora had joint custody, and Willow was given a lot of freedom regarding which parent they wanted to spend time with. As they got older (and possibly influenced by the birth of their half-sibling, Kingston) Willow chose to spend more time with their mom.
When Elora's new partner, Eqros, came into the picture, Willow was naturally hesitant. But he's a genuinely nice guy so they came around fairly quickly and accepted him as their stepfather.
Willow has no hard feelings towards Dylan's "new family," but they aren't as close to Vaughn and Kingston as they are to Dylan since they started to spend more time with their mom and stepdad.
Prior to rewriting the lore, I had redesigned Willow to be the biological child of Elora and Eqros. That is what prompted their first redesign, actually. Now that I've taken it back lmao, I'll probably give them another redesign
here have an updated family tree that wouldn't let me show that Elora is married to Eqros lol
[I'll be spitballing more story stuff as time goes on. I might actually move this to UnVale when I eventually put Dylan there]
